My goodness your day sounded exhausting. Sorry to hear you had a bad time. You will be happy with the PIC. I had one inserted as I hate blood tests and anything to do with veins. It's a bit if a pain covering it up for showers but it will save your veins. You also need to get it cleaned every week but the nurses will tell you all that. The nurses at the chemo ward draw the blood . You just have to make sure that you make an appointment.
This is merely a suggestion and I don't know if it will work for you but I got sick of waiting to see oncologist and then having chemo on the same day. The day was long and I became very anxious when I wasn't seen on time. I arranged to see the oncologist one day and have my chemo the following day. That way I see the dr and get bloods done one day and then the next day I don't really have to wait for my chemo. I just have to wait for them to get the drugs. It works for me as I am 5 mins from the hospital. It may not work for you.
