Round 2!! BRing it on!!

About to head off to town for round 2 of my chemo.  I got thru round 1 relatively unscathed!  My side effects were a bit of a funny tummy for 5 days, just that swirly nausea feeling and fatigue, but that had also passed by day 5.  I am hoping for the same (or less!!) this time. Fingers crossed.

I did start loosing my hair 15 days after the first round, just a few strands at first and then we went out for dinner and I thought wouldn't it be nice to blow dry my hair - well I wont be doing that again for a very long time!!  it started coming out in clumps and then on the sunday it was falling out into my hands if I ran my fingers thru my hair - yuk!!  Monday at work I just had hair going everywhere, I think my hat may of been rubbing and causing some to come out.  Monday was a bit of a teary yuk day. I told my workmate I had my "fragile - handle with care sticker" on for the day! While I had hair I looked normal, anyone I hadn't told wouldn't of guessed anything was wrong. But I couldn't stand the the hair falling out everywhere! So Tuesday night I went and saw a friend who is a hairdresser and shaved it down to a number 1.  Still lots coming out, but its not going to block all my drains.  I am actually feeling relieved that the decision was mine to make.

Ok gotta go and finish getting ready.  Hope you all have an amazing day and weekend xx

  • Hi Jecca,

It's good to hear that your first session went well. I've just had my fourth and last AC treatment and I think that overall my experience has been similiar to yours. Treatment weeks are hard but then weeks 2 and 3 are better. Though each session seems to leave me a bit more tired.

I got my hair cut short before chemo so it wasn't so hard when it went. I felt sad during the days that it was falling out, but now it's just what it is. Lots of head scarf options seem to work for me.

Next up, I have 12 weeks of Taxol, so I'm nearly half way through - every milestone is welcome.
