  • Shaz,

Sorry to hear you had a rough time, and also it can be very distressing when side effects of the chemo make you feel yuk. As for you not sleeping if you had steroids before and during chemo this could be a reason, it gets you "hyped" up. Try some form of meditation or relaxation therapy, watching funny movies to unwind from all that is going on and keep in contact with friends/family for support and talking out things.

    Take care and rest, Deb

  • Hi Sharon,  Yes sorry about your "troubles" but there is good news.  Afte the drugs wear off I find that I sleep like a baby.  In fact when it comes to 7pm I am looking for bed.  Mind you I don't have a sleep during the day.  For the first 3 days after chemo - when it is really important to drink heaps - I drink water through a straw.  It is consumed quicker and takes away from the awful taste.  I am presently day 11 after chemo 2 and I feel great.  I had a bad time on my first chemo and spent 6 nights in hospital so I was cheated.  Those nights should have been my good times (this I know from this round).  I am very busy cooking, cleaning, ironing and running errands (to my capacity) whilst I am in the "well period".  I am preparing for the "winter season" so to speak when I will feel lousy after my next chemo.  I keep saying "This is so great to feel well" and I am enjoying it whilst it lasts.  Your time will come too so that is something to look forward to!!!  Take care.
