Hi Never Give Up,
I have also had BC for the second time - my first in 2003 at the age of 35 (high grade DCIS, mastectomy and reconstruction but no radiation or chemo) and the second last year at the age of 42 in the other breast (Invasive ductal carcinoma, oestrogen +ve, progesterone +ve, chemo, mastectomy and reconstruction). Like Tonya, I am now on Tamoxifen for the next five years.
You really feel like you are on a rollercoaster and can't see the end when you first start out on this journey....all of the doctors appointments, scans (I felt like a pin cushion!) etc and the unknown of what is ahead is so daunting. As you said though, keeping positive is SO important. I think we are all a lot tougher than we think and I am a huge believer in mind over matter. I really think that if you keep positive it helps you to heal quicker and cope with the ups and downs so much better.
We are all here for you and if you need any advice or just a shoulder to cry on or an ear to whinge into, come by and have a chat.
Louise x
