Results??

On 14th April I will have my breast lump removed. When speaking to my specialist he said it up to two weeks for results. Doesn't the surgeon usually have an idea when doing surgery..? Also after surgery what sort of time would normally be needed off work? Cheryle

  • Hi bel Thanks for your reply. I am taking work situation week by week. I work at a medical centre so have a very supportive team around me. At this stage it will be post op and then I will go from there. My job is full on, so not the sort of place I would want to be during treatment. I agree rest to recover Cheers. Cheryle
  • Thanks for your reply's. It is great site to be able to talk with ladies going thru this. I will let work know how long I will prob be off for. All the waiting for results is hard, but all part of this journey we are on. Hope you are both doing well.
  • Yep,that's the way they do it.They send the tissue away for testing, and some things take longer than others. From memory,I had to wait about that long. xox Robym
  • Hi

I had 1 week and 1 day off work after my lumpectomy - only needed panadol. my lumpectomy was 4 weeks ago and recovering well from the surgery. They will not tell you anything until after they have the results from surgery tested by a pathologist. I went to to the surgeon 1 week post op and got most of my results then but it is true that not all the results are in at that stage - I had other results a day later from the breast care nurse.

I am looking at treatment now and the oncologist still wanted more information from the pathologist on my Key 67 result and am still waiting for that information. This journey involves alot of waiting and you are better waiting so they can give you all your results.

good luck! come on here as I have found the support from the lovely ladies on here wonderful
