Results relief
Got results from re-excision today and yay! All clear margins, huge relief. I am considering going on this trial that has been offered to me called EXPERT trial (EXamining PErsonalized Radiation Therapy for low risk early BC) which is a randomized trial over 10 years to determine in early stage breast cancer whether or not you need radiation therapy. A gene assay test is done first (Prosigna) to determine your risk of recurrence and if your score is 60 and under, if you are luminal A type breast cancer and you are over 50 you are eligible for the trial. You then get randomized into one of two groups, one which receives standard treatment (rad and hormone) and the other group just hormone treatment plus observation. There are other criteria for eligibility as well which is why i have included a couple of links.
Just wondering what people's thoughts are on this and whether anyone else has been asked about participating, particularly if you are from Melbourne and are going through Peter Mac as i think at this point they are the only ones recruiting. The trial only opened August this year so it's pretty new so i imagine other hospitals will start recruiting at some point. The trial is with Australia and New Zealand. You can also find info on this at
