Thanks Tonya, yes it is wonderful news and I'm stoked! I'm relishing in the good news and like you said, hopefully the treatment will keep heading in the right direction. I know this can be such a roller-coaster ride, and anything can happen but I have all my fingers and toes crossed!

Hi Sarah, its unbelievable that your mum wasn't offered bone protection! Wow, thats amazing! I was told to take calcium and vitamin D supplements to assist with all that! Do you know if she has developed osteoporosis or had tests for this? I ask because I had to be tested for this due to 2 disks that had fractured in my upper back a long time ago (I didnt even know!). Fortunately I don't have osteoporosis but have very thin bones and am at risk of developing oesteoporosis. I was told there are a few drugs they can offer to protect the bones and treat osteoporosis to stop any further fractures. Glad to hear your mum still has a sense of humour too! My mum is doing well now...she still gets tired but seems to be coping well which is good.

Hi Amanda, yes, the doc doesn't sound too concerned about the bony lesions...he says its quite common for people on chemo, but they want to be thorough and rule out any bone cancer which is fine by me! I did have some 'warm spots' show up in my initial scan back in October in my spine, but they suspected these to be pre-arthritic and  confirmed they were not cancer. The doc said he'd be surprised if cancer had spread through my bones so rapidly in 9 & half weeks given that the chemo and herceptin are having good success in the lungs. He seems to think that had I had a poorer response in the lungs, the bone spread would be more likely, however I'll just have to wait and see...and keep all my fingers and toes crossed that I get a clear result!

Yesterday I had my 4th cycle of chemo and they are looking at a minimum of 6 cycles, with more offered (up to 9 cycles) if my body can take it. All my cell counts are normal at this stage, so if they stay that way then maybe they will offer me the extra chemo doses, which is fine by me....my initial cancer tumour marker test was 334 and my test yesterday showed it has gone down to 149 so I'll keep accepting whatever they are offering me for now! (I know some docs don't have much regard for the usefulness and reliability of the cancer tumour marker tests but I'll grab on to any skerrick of good news I can get!). My understanding is that I'll continue with Herceptin alone indefinately after the chemo finishes.
