Results are in...

Hello ladies, here are my wonderful results from yesterday!

  • All lung tumours in both lungs and 3 chest lymph nodes involved have shrunk considerably!
  • No new growths or spread in lungs!
  • No confirmed spread elsewhere!

I am totally thrilled as these results far exceeded my expectations!?

Having said that, I have had some new bony lesions showing up on my bones. The (registrar) oncologist is confused as this flies in the face of the lung results and he suspects that the lesions may be due to a treatment response which can happen. This is being further investigated to rule out bone cancer 100%. Fingers crossed this is the case!

I also have to have a pap smear as the lining of my cervix was slightly thickened however I'm told this could be due to the chemo ( I had an abnormal pap smear last lot of chemo in 2009) and any other number of things (previous Tamoxifen etc).

I'm not too bothered with these 2 issues...I'm just basking in the success of the lung results at the moment!

I'm off to lunch now to celebrate! Yipee!

    I am so glad you are getting positive results.I hope those cancer cells keep shrinking down to nothing and leave you alone for 2012.

    So pleased to hear you news that's amazing. How is you mother? Mine is out here from the UK having had big celebrations for her 80th yesterday. How ever she has had a tough time since she left . When she got to NZ ( younger sister's place) she developed terrible back pain which was found to be an L2 fracture  not connected disease wise to her breast cancer, on asking her she is not taking any Vit D despite taking the femara since April I am totally flabbergasted that at her age the UK doctors didn't think to protect her bones she's taking Vit D now! Her MRI in NZ also said she had a healed L4&5 fracture. When she gets back to the UK she may well have to have surgery to finally remove the lumps they have not grown and she has had her whole body checked in NZ and no spread anywhere which is a great relief. With lots of pain releif she is able to get up and do things. She is pretty frail lost heaps of weight from when I last saw her but the sense of humour is intact!

    Oh yeah Celeste! Woohoo! Don't stress too much about the bony stuff - sounds unlikely - I've had 'warm spots' show up on bone scan but negative on PET - after a lengthy chat with dr I understand this happens a lot post Chemo. I am sooooooo happy that you are getting good results. How much more chemo before herceptin alone? Enjoy celebrating! Amanda xxx
