Reocurrance??

Hi there, Im 31 and was diagnosed 23/12/11 with IDC stage 2 with 1lymph node involved. I had a bilateral mastectomy with tissue expanders and sentinal node biopsy and removal of lymph nodes in jan and had 4 rounds of chemo ending in may. I am a mother of two young children so this year has been very tiring to say the least!! I had a few set backs earlier on, I developed an infection in the left tissue expander and it had to be removed. It was replaced in August and I am gearing up to have the final implants put in in Feb 2013. So very excited!! I actually was wondering if anyone has had a reocurrance within the first year of original diagnosis?? I have found another lump next to the original site and am having a FNA in Brisbane next week... I'm actually really worried. The US says its not a cyst or a fatty deposit so I'm scared... I didn't think you could get it back again so soon?? Anyone out there had anything similar??

    Hi Tiarni That sounds like good news! Hopefully the check-up in February will go well & you have nothing to worry about :) Happy New Year, Louise x

    Hi Louise, thank you for your well wishes. I had my biopsy and it seems to have gone well. They didn't get enough sample to tell me what it is, but they said the cells they did get werent malignant!! That's a really big relief. We are just going to keep an eye on it and I will have a check up in Feb. I still do feel nervous about it but hopefully that will pass :-) Tiarni

    Hi Bluejay

    I wish you all the best for your results....hopefully it is not a recurrence!  I had my second bout of BC after 7 years and that was in the other breast (1st time age 35, second time aged 42).

    It sounds like you have had a pretty hard year so hopefully next year will be a better one for you.
