I too had a bilateral mastecomy a few days before Easter last year and spent the entire break in hospital. The surgery went well and apart from being violently ill from the pain reliever, my recovery went pretty well. The hardest part for me was not being their Easter Sunday morning to see my boys aged 3 and 6 find their eggs from the Easter bunny. Kinda silly in some ways, but these events are so short in our children's lives I still feel teary that I missed it...Anyway - this year we are away camping with our dear friends. We took the kids out of school and kindy a day early and set up yesterday. As it is their first time camping they are very excited and we have all enjoyed our time so far.....me especially. I am so thankful to be a year on and be spending this holiday time with the ones I love most. Your post of your surgery was insightful and honest and I can eerily relate to your experience! When I first saw my breasts without any nipples - I kinda thought it was like they had their eyes closed! Lol! I hope you enjoy your Easter this year and for every coming year as much as I will.
