Referred to Chemo & Radioligy for discussion ??

Hi

Well it's been a hard week, fighting infection in breast still and looks like I've come down with shingles now ??

Got the call today and have been referred to chemo & radiation team for a discussion. Apparently in the team meeting today, for most of the ladies apparently they said referred referred referred. Sounds like we are all just sent across for discussions. But frustrating, was hoping for a more definite plan. Although this does give more time to pray for neither of these treatments.

Love to hear others experiences.

Has anyone had a Grade 2 (borderline) tumour, Clear margins All nodes clear and manage to bypass chemo and radiation. That's what I'm praying and believing for.

Cheers, Karen ??

  • Hi Karen,

I was borderline grade 2, but had to have mastectomy after 2 previous excisions still had cells in margins, and I was quite small breasted anyway, (there really wasn't much more she could take).  It was the best decision for me as there was a second tumour hiding.  Due to the size of the original lump, 40mm, it was recommended that I have chemo.  It gives me the greatest chance of not having a recurrence, followed by hormone therapy.  I was also referred to a radiation oncologist who has also recommended rads as I had more than one tumour.  I know the team meet often for tumour review meetings and base their decisions on pathology reports etc (all tumours are different).

All the best with your referrals, ask lots of questions as they'll get answered. I've found most drs are aware we know so much already from our own research on bcna and are more than willing to discuss clinical trial results etc.

    All  the best,

    Karen xx

  • Hi:) I had a grade2 , clear margins and no nodes involved, but I had chemo.I avoided radio because I had a mastectomy. Your doctor will look at your individual pathology results and then advise you of the best plan. Even though many of us are grade 2, there are many differences within that. I am 18 months past treatment and I feel fantastic:) Cheers Robynxox
