Recovering well and good news

Hi all you lovely ladies.

I am reading a lot of the blog posts and all the treatment everyone is going through. It makes me think I must be one of the lucky few, that eventhough I have gone through breast cancer I have had less treatment in less time. Today I saw my breast surgeon and got some brilliant news. After examining the reconstructed left breast, he stated that the flap looks amazing and that everything is CLEAR. There is NO presence of BC!!

The abdominal wound is the one that is causing me more pain and concern than the breast at this moment. Last week it looked infected and so i got it checked - it was not infected but just "breaking down" and is normal.  My surgeon told me today that it was nothing really to worry about that it was just a small problem with the blood supply to this area.  Has anyone else that has had a TRAM FLAP reconstruction had any issues? I would be interested to hear...

Cheers

  • Hi Rachel, brilliant news on your results! As Paula said, there are no lucky ones in this game, but it's great that you are recovering well - just take it easy and your body will thank you! Cheers, Jane xx

  • Hi Rachel,

Glad  you are healing well from surgery.  There really are no lucky ones in this BC game but I understand what you are saying about not needing as much treatment. Congratulations on being all clear.  What a great feeling.  I have had a TRAM flap recon but was lucky enough to not have too many healing problems.  There has been discussion in the breast reconstruction group about wound healing etc. You just need to request to join with a brief message and we can sign you up.  I will attach the link if you like.  Then when you want to post you can click on the big pink post button and it will give you a drop down tab and you can decide where you would like to post.  Once you have joined one of the options should be Breast reconstruction online group.  Hope that hasn't confused you.

Shout out if you need a hand.
