Hi
I understand this is a difficult time for you. I had a tram flap reconstruction at the time of a mastectomy. I am very pleased I did that although at the time because of the difficulties encountered with healing I was not so sure. It makes sense to me that you would be reluctant to have more surgery at this time, however you have indicated that you may feel differently "when the dust settles". I would have to agree with you there. You are a young woman so need to do all you can to maintain your positive self image. I found that my emotional healing was greatly aided by not having to deal with a space left by the mastectomy. I would suggest that you discuss the procedures available to you with a reconstruction surgeon. This will enable you to make and informed decision. There are some really good ones in Queensland or rather Brisbane. Also a counsellor experienced in adjustment to injury or illness may help you at this time. I found that the opportunity to talk about my fears and concerns to someone who is not immediately affected by my diagnosis was very beneficial.
I hope that some of this has been useful.
