Recently diagnosed

Thanks for your messages girls. Although this disease is dreadful, it has already opened up a new world of lovely, positive, loving people and for that I'm thankful.

Unfortunately my margins didn't come back clear (after 34mm being removed) and I have extensive LVI (lymphovascular invasion), so I'm back in theatre for a mastectomy of my left breast  tomorrow. I can't find a lot of info about LVI, but my surgeon told me it wasn't unexpected as we knew the cancer was in my lymph nodes. If there are any positives, only 2/16 lymph nodes were cancerous and it is hormone receptive so I guess I'll be in for early menopause (perhaps that's better than PMT!!!!!)

Everyone I talk to keeps saying how brave I am and how do I feel, Bugger being brave, I've got cancer in my breast and the sooner it comes off the better my chances are of it not spreading. I only need to look at my kids to know that  having only 1  boob doesn't matter. I told them that my boobie is sick and it is going to be cut off, to which my 4 year old replied "I hope they're not going to use a saw"....LOL... Anyway, I feel okay about everything at the moment, but may be a different story when I wake up tomorrow after surgery with only one boob!! Hubby is being absolutely fantastic and I think it must be almost harder for him. He is the one who is working, running around after kids and trying to keep the household running. The girls from my mums group have also been my rocks. They are filling my fridge with food, cleaning my house, minding my kids and doing my washing and I know they're in it for the long haul.
