Oh Debbie
I DO know what you mean, and from what I have read on the blogs - it isn't so unusual - I am at the moment writing very deep and meaningful emails to the ones that I am sure will come around (eventually) like I have said before, they seem to treat it like you have a bad case of the flu - they have NO IDEA of any of the trauma, drama, fear, anxiety, pain. depression, tears! and all the rest! I am actually going out of my way to try and explain what it gong on and this is as serious as it gets - lets face it in the end they cant say I didn't try; I have told one of my daughters (who doesn't like hugs and mushy stuff) that we have a wonderful aunty, whos a genteel lady, laughs a lot in her late eighties - kept her family together by discipline and lots of hugs -so it is ok to show emotion - kids seem to view it as a sign of weakness or something - maybe they have been over exposed to too many men crying on national tv when they have been caught out over some misbehaviour; or worse still GORY advertisements, Gory television shows and half-baked current affair shows - our kids seem to have been DE-SENSITISED. We were always told 'not to wash our dirty linen in public' - 'keep a stiff upper lip' 'keep your private stuff to yourself'.....now we live in a world were detective series on tv seems to be blood lust - where's the mystery in that, rampant sex and really bad-obscene jokes. Yet our kids cant deal with us having breast cancer (it all seems too hard) so they shy away.....beats me Debbie - I will keep on trying any way - they are the ones who will have to live with their conscience in the end; not darn good enough I say! In the meantime we have the wonderful BONUS of meeting gorgeous new friends like you on this wonderful site! Keep me posted - oh you may have gathered some times I try to be funny (note the emphasis is on 'TRY') I try heaps, I am good at trying - my kids tell me 'I am very trying'...............I am off to bed! talk to you soon x x x Josie
