Readers Digest this month

Hello everyone,

There is an interesting article in this month's Reader Digest about dense breast tissue and why it makes diagnosis more difficult using the current screening methods.

They also think that there is then a higher risk of cancer, but are not sure why, so further research is happening,  and that in the future that women knowing their "Breast" density could be better prepared and informed.

    Thanks Bardoe - i shall have a look.

    I had a mammogram and ultrasound through Breastscreen and was sent away and told that the lump I had found was just a thickening of the tissue and to come back again after 2 years!!

    I never felt completely settled about it and had another check almost a year later through a different screening centre - the lump was found to be malignant and her2 + also there was a second lump .

    I was told that as I am in my early 40's and have dense breast tissue this may have been why it was missed !!!

    So this article will be of interest - I have seen on this sight a few other ladies with a similar story. It is very worrying that even when we go and try to do the right thing by having breastscreening checks that you can be sent away with an undiagnosed malignancy.

    I am just thankful that I didnt wait 2 years !!!
