Hey Sorelle
Congratulations on finishing your radiotherapy, It is such a wonderful feeling and how lucky are you to get so spoilt with a beautiful new puppy, wow what a wonderful hubby you have.
I used to have a Mr Oliver who was a Shitzu/Maltese X and he was so beautiful so hopefully your Oliver will be as precious as mine. It will be good for you to share your luv with Oliver who will give you unconditional love in return.
I got put on Tamoxifin of which I was on for a month or so and the hot flushes were unbearable as I literally would have sweat running from me constantly. When I went back to my chemo onco he changed me to Femara as he classed me as post menopausal I think????? Anyway the Femara is soooo much better so far and I have been on it for a few weeks now. But he also gave me a script for some Pregabalin 25mg should I suffer from hot flushes which I had the script filled but have not had to use it yet. Compared to when I was on Tamoxifin the hot flushes are minimal (1-5 per day now) so I have not had to take the Pregabaliin as of yet. Of course this may change as time goes on but so far so good.
You may not be able to be on Femara depending on where you are with menopause but there is no reason you can not be given some medication to try and help control your hot flushes. If I had have stayed on Tamoxifin it was so bad and I would have had no quality of life and I would have been unable to work etc. so I am very grateful I could change and I have the option of the extra medication if the hot flushes cause me a problem down the track. Maybe chat with your doc.
Good luck and I am so happy another big part of your yukky journey is over and you have an extra lil body to love. Give Oliver a hug for me and I think your hubby deserves one too hee hee :-)
Mich xoxo
