Radiotherapy

Hi Ladies,

Just wondering if anyone can share their thoughts on where they went for Radiotherapy?

I'm wanting to go public because private is going to cost to much out of pocket.

I live in the North Eastern Suburbs so my closest hospital will be the Lyell McEwin.

Has anyone had theirs there and can let me know if they were good.

Otherwise I'll drive into town everyday.

Vanessa

Hello neighbour, lol! Yes, you've got some time before you decide about radiotherapy location...I don't think you'll go wrong with either the RAH or Lyell Mac. Yes, when you feel up to a group meeting or even if you want to meet me for a coffee some time, please let me know. How are you going with chemo? are you coping ok? Take care, Celeste ?

  • I'm in Fairview park, so we are neighbours :)Thank you for your info. I have a while til Radiotherapy as I'm still in the middle of chemo. But I thought I'd ask. I look forward to feeling up to eventually coming to a group meeting. I don't feel very social at the moment doing chemo. But hoping I'll get there soon. Thanks Vanessa.

I live in Surrey Downs and I had my radiotherapy at the Royal Adelaide Hospital and they were brilliant! I got a pass for free carparking everyday right outside the Radiotherapy building and this kept costs down. I was also able to nominate what time of day I'd like my appointment, I got the same appointment time almost everyday (to fit in with school hours) which was about 10.30-11.00am each day. I found the service to be excellent...no waiting and very nice staff. I've heard the same about the Lyell Mac so I don't think you'll have a problem there either. Good luck, Celeste ?

  • Thank you. I still have 4 month chemo to finish before I start. I've done everything private t date but don't really want to pay $1600 for radiotherapy. But it's good to know the staff is friendly.ThanksVanessa
  • Hi Vanessa, I had my Chemotherapy at Lyell McEwin and found the staff fantastic. I didn't have Radiotherapy but some of the staff work in both areas. I think it is a small unit so you will get to know the staff. I had my surgery private and had not problems within the public system.
