Hi Everyone, hope that you're all doing well. Travelled from my home in Orbost 5 hours to Melbourne for my first radiotherapy today. As it is a long trip, my hubby and I will be staying with family and friends, so we are fortunate to have that support around us. All the staff at the radio oncology unit were so lovely, and explained proceedings so well. Having already been mapped last week, it took the staff about 10 minutes to set up, then about 5 minutes of treatment time. I would describe the experience as similar to a cat scan, the equipment does not come really close to you, just reminding myself not to move was the greatest challenge, as I have the tail end of a cold and didn't want to sneeze or cough in the middle of it all. Am plastering on the moo goo and hoping for the best, 22 more treatments to go. Rock on September, Trace ??????

Hi Tracey, All the best for the rads! I met my radiation oncologist again yesterday to plan the plan! I still have last chemo next week, so my planning Ct scan won't be til 3 weeks after that, to start treatment the following week. So things going well , I start late September. They're going to treat my chest wall post mastectomy and the region near my clavicle. I'd be interested to know how you get on. Glad to hear you have the family support in relocating for the treatment. I'm a city girl, Sydney, and despite the lack of open space like your beautiful region of Victoria, I am spoilt with medical facilities literally a stone's throw from my house. Hi Jennie

Wish you all the best and hope that your radiation goes well.

Pit is a lot easier than chemo and the burnt can be managed with lots of cream.

Start my radiation treatment tomorrow. Thanks for your posts. It's so helpful to know what to expect. I've bought some Moo Goo so feeling about as prepared as can be.

Hi Mel, good luck for your rads on the 7th September. The moo goo is lovely to use, the nurse at the radio oncology said not to apply it within 3 hours before treatment, as they just need to apply the rads to your skin. I carry a tube in my handbag and apply it straight away after rads. I probably use it 3 times a day, and it keeps your skin really nice. Moo Goo have a website, so just look it up. You can buy online, or you can do a search for local providers on the site. A tube will cost you about $12 and lasts for ages. Best of luck with finding your local stockists, Trace ??????

Hi Tracey, thanks for sharing your initial Radiation therapy experience - I start on the 7th Sept so it was really helpful to read how you went.

Thanks Jane, it is nice cream, and it soaks in easily. It is so good that I use it as an all over moisturiser. Take care, Trace ????
