Radiotherapy - Wk 3

Into third week of radiotherapy and things are not too bad at this stage. Three out of 5 days I have treatment at 8.30am and the other two days at 4.30pm. On Mondays I also see the specialist Dr Martin Borg for a review. Monday's I also have an Xray to check they are radiating me in the right place.

Process is quick and easy. They call me in. I go in and change the top half to just a blue gown. The treatment bed has a metal section where my back lies (I can keep the gown on my back so not skin on metal!). Knees raised over a moulded foam piece. Two people mark spots on my chest with a texta using my two tatoo spots as guides. The machine above my head is rotated from side to side starting in the middle of my chest and moving right round to target my underarm. Once they have agreed the measurements are right and the machine is set to follow the right path they leave the room and I get zapped from both sides - underarm and central. Whole thing takes only about 5 minutes. No pain or discomfort.

I use sorbolene 3 times a day as instructed. Once after my morning shower; once after treatment - in the changing room; and then again before going to bed. The other cream they said I could have used was Calendula - have a bit of that but it does smell a bit fishy. So far no real marks showing but it does feel a bit like sunburn (hot) and left arm / underarm is stiffening up.
