I don't have any solution for you but wanted to say you are justified in your frustration. Once my skin started to feel sore there was no way I could have worked even if it was 'just sitting at a desk'. You're right it just sucks. It's hard to understand with all the talk of 'safety nets' that there is apparently no such thing as short term medical disability support through Centrelink -or something similar.
On the positive side, once my skin peeled it only took about 6 - 10 days before it was fully healed. So remember if it gets pretty bad it will not be long term.
