Radiation finished

Hello to all you lovelly ladies, I have been missing in action latelly but I was busy with my 33 radiation treatments and ist finally over . I had my last treatment today , what a huge relief , now I don't have to go to the hospital everyday. I was lucky so far no damage to my skin at all just red as if I stayed in the sun to long, all the moisturising must have worked. Now I am on to the next step of this journey commencing Tamoxifen over the weekend. I will like to thank everyone that gave me support and kind words during my treatment and to wish you all the very best , I will take a break from the site now as I need to focus on my recovery and getting ready to go back to work, not before I go on a well deserved holliday with the family.Once again thank you very very much for all the advise and support and all the best to all especially the ones that still have treatment. Regards Monica

  • Hi Monica

I hope I catch you before your break from the site.....I'm absolutely wrapt for you that the Radiation has finished.  You did really well if you've only got a bit of redness.

I sincerely hope you will recover rapidly and enjoy your well-deserved holiday.

Lots of luv to you and your family

    Helen

  • Way to go Monica, I finished today after 6 weeks of radiation. Huge relief alright.

I have to have a bone density test and go see my oncologist in 2 weeks to start on my meds, not sure what I will be on. All those daily trips to hospital - so tiring but I did see the same faces and shared a few chats whilst in the waiting room.

Enjoy your time away, heal and rest and enjoy before you return for your new life. That is what we are doing too.

    All the very best. Maria333

That's great to hear Monica! Good luck with your recovery and settling into your 'new normal' and work.

    Stay in touch!

  • Well done Monica.  It is such a good feeling once the heavy treatment is finished.  You will be fine on Tamoxifen.  I found it okay and dealt with the side effects easily.  Just had some breaktrhough bleeding that needed regular checking.  The night sweats are manageable.  Good luck with your final recovery - I was quite fatigued after my first "lot" of radiation but the last "lot" last Feb/March had little effect.  It is all about pacing yourself and not overdoing it  Your body will let you know when to stop.  If it is possible for you, ease back into work gradually as I went back too soon after my first treatment and then paid for it.  Best wishes to you and whenever you feel like a "chat" we will all be here for you.  You can now say "I am brave - I survived bc" XLeonie
