  • Hey Kathy

Love your new profile pic by the way.

I have seen this youtube from this Dr Sloan.  He seems to be the only one I have found while googling who seems to disapprove of radiation and seems to have a lot to say about it.  He is really the only one I have found who has anything to say about it and progressive radiation fibrosis.

Like you say all the so called professionals all appear to have their own opinions and unfortunatley they all differ.

I have ANOTHER!!!! couple of appointments with the professionals........this week so I hope I will have a new path to go on after this as so far I have gotten no where except to have extensive extensive treatments, scans etc etc and I am most grateful as they are saying I am currently totally cancer free which i will be forever grateful but I need to get to the bottom of my "alien".

One professional I have recently seen believes it is progressive radiation fibrosis that I have so I have googled this.  He recommended I see my radiotherapy oncologist sooner rather than later so I have managed to bring my appointment forward. I have not seen her since my original treatment so it is 12 month.  My new professional also recommends the hyperbaric chamber of which I also have an appt next week.

This new professional is the only one who has given me an actual diagnosis so I am running with that for the time being until another professional gives a differing outcome.

It just gets a lil bit tiring after a while but what can you do you just have to keep running with it.  As hubby says you have been going through all these tests and procedures etc.since before Xmas 2012 and only through you being proactive have these things happened but not one person can give you an answer for your alien to date.  Except for my new professional.

All I know at this stage is if someone could take my alien away and put it somewhere else other than on my body (or on anyone elses for that matter as they won't want it either that is certain) then I would be eternally grateful.

I will keep you updated as soon as I have some more answers. Thanks for your concern and advice.

Lots of love always, Mich xoxoxoxo

  • I googled it. I had radiation to both left and right side of chest, after lumpectomies. I had it in 1998, and again in 2003.

I do have aches and pain, that come and go, and swell up up bit around the top of arms and shoulder blade area; and also in left breast. ( More so if I do too much, too quickly, or continuously.) Therefore I try and pace myself.

I have had scanning light laser to both sides, and I think it helped things to settle; to soften scar tissue and to reduce swelling and help with range of movement.

Do not give up hope; keep searching things to help. Experts do not know,  or agree on everything, and new ideas and treatments conitnue to happen.

I have noticed a new " pain " in chest area and wonder if it may be due to radiation long term scarring ?

I may have another scanning laser around the central sternum area..down the track.
