Post surgery pathology

So...... Woke up from my lumpectomy with no axillary disturbance assuming that, for now anyway, the sentinel node must have looked A-okay. Surgeon visited me the next morning in hospital to advise that they took 2 nodes to test, both were obviously riddled with cancer & enlarged. They chose to close me up instead of proceeding with a full axillary clearance as they know within 2 weeks they want me back for a full mastectomy & full axillary clearance! Way to deliver good news doc. In addition they now intend to hit me with systemic treatment; I.e. - chemo, rather than the "simple" 6 wks of daily radiation we previously discussed. Oh yes, just gets better & better doesn't it!? In addition, I'll be having all those lovely scans over the next week or so to discover where else this invasive lobular bullshit may potentially have travelled. My next scheduled appt to discuss all the detail is in 1 weeks time unless they call me in earlier. We still if course have a bunch of "good news" to obtain from the more extensive pathology they'll be doing over the next week. Right now I'm like ah, whatever, fuck you ILC, hope that attitude lasts as I'm not at all looking forward to the inevitable emotional & psychological breakdown even if it lasts just a day.
