Hi Jean,
When I had my first mastectomy in December 2010, I was given a soft bra with breast forms form Berlie. Apparently these ar donated by Berlie and we all get one. ( not sure about Perth, as I am in Sydney). Perhaps ring the hospital you will be attending and ask to speak with the Breast Care nurses. I never required anything more than this bra, and it was very comfortable. For your drains, you will get a donated shoulder bag or draw string bag to carry them around in. I have used both, and if given the choice, go with the shoulder bag as it is easier to cart the drains around. Though I had all my ops in Sydney, I did have emergency surgery in the Royal Perth hospital for a massive haematoma that developed 20 days after my
second mastectomy and insertion of tissue expanders.
They have breast nurses there, and this where I was
given a floral shoulder bag for my drains when I left the
hosiptal. I find that the Genie bra is very comfy post op
as well. I have 3 of them and purchased them before
my reconstruction was completed, and it doesn't dig in
anywhere. It is easier to sleep in as well if you need the
support. I can't imagine that the camisole would be a
better option than what we have here. The donated
Berlie bra also opens at the front. The Genie bra just
pulls up. Good luck with everything. Love Chris xx
