Post op drain

Hi ladies I'm 10 days post op after unilateral lat dorsi reconstruction. I've still got the drain in. I'm tired of disguising it in a bag when I go out. Still draining 70mls today. The volume is very slow to reduce and I'm getting a bit inpatient as my doctor says I can't exercise too much or it will keep draining. Otherwise I feel good and I'm out and about but it's getting a bit long in the tooth trying to find ways to hide it from public view. Any tips or comments appreciated. And btw other 2 drains came out day 4. Chris

  • It is really a drag isn't it.  I haven't had reconstruction but had drains after my mastectomy and then again after axillary node dissection.  I opted to use a bum bag.  Obviously only worked with casual clothing but it held the drains, it wasn't attached to my clothes so bathroom stops were easy because the drains just stayed inplace in the bum bag on my waist.  Good luck - seems like an eternity but you will be rid of them soon.
