Post double mastectomy

Hi all I had a bi-lateral double mastectomy and had 3 nodes removed last Friday and I'm in a fair but of pain and really sore. I will have to have drains for another 4 weeks due to some mesh that was placed in my chest. I was only in hospital 2 days and I don't like taking the really strong meds as the make my head really foggy. Can anyone tell me how long it is before the pain and soreness tarts to really subside? Thanks Tina

  • You poor darling. I know how sore you are. You should really be taking the strong meds at least once in the day, they will help you through the pain and help you rest your body. After all you've just had major surgery. A foggy head for a while is the trade off I know but you shouldn't be in such pain all the time. I tried to take the really big guns (Endone) only at night so I could sleep off a lot of the fogginess. I took paracetamol every four hours without fail while I needed it. (Should have bought shares in the company LOL). So it looks like you've had your op about a week ago hey. The pain will improve day by day and in another week you should feel much better and be over the worst. There's no denying it does take a while for all the pain to go away so try and be patient and look after yourself. The op is done so you can tick that one off :) I'm sending you a big cyber hug Tina.
