Hi @Twiggyjumps , I remember being scared to get a portacath inserted more for the looks of it, The thought of having a lump around my upper chest area and people constantly looking at it and asking what it is scared me. I got my port removed as soon as chemo was finished, then about 1.5 years later when i found out my cancer had spread and i had to do more chemo through veins again i thought oh no here we go again. I have had a double mastectomy and all lymph nodes removed on both arms so using a tornacae ( not sure how its spelt) is out of the question, The nurses found finding veins very difficult so back into hospital i went for my port to be reinserted, Honestly the location of this port is so so much better then the first one i had, the dr put it more towards the side of my chest towards my under arm area more so when i wear singlets and tops it is hidden. It sort of sits under my bra strap. I dont know if this was the dr's intention and i did not say anything to him but i am happy. I dont feel it as my chest area is pretty numb after all the reconstructions i have had, I would highly recommend it. It is so much easier preparing for chemo, no fiddling around trying to find veins. There is a little scar but i heal pretty good and it can hardly be seen. I now have 2 more battle scars one from the old port and one from the new scar. Honestly the scars are the least of my problem and i dont think about them. Good luck with it and hope it all goes well for you
