Plodding along.

An update of my journey so far.... I had my final FEC on Friday last week. I can't believe that part is over already. I've handled it ok and worked full time with only 1-2 days off each cycle. On the 15tn January 2014 I start Taxol for 9 sessions then onto radiation for 5 weeks. Next step is tamoxifen for 10 years but I'm also going to remove my right breast and have a hysterectomy at the same time. Then thank you to the girls in the reconstruction section, I will be beginning my research for my new girls :-). My breast surgeon is happy with everything and I'm now on 3 Monthly reviews which made me a bit anxious because he has been there right from the word go :-( and I didn't like the "goodbye" for now. Time sure has flown since that fateful day of September 26th when I found out I had lobular breast cancer. I'm trying to keep things as normal as possible as I believe it's whats keeping me strong and positive. I still have my down days where I want to cry, but I seem to smile a bit more now. :-) Jodie xxx

    I just knew you could do it. You are a trooper :) Isn't it amazing how time does fly when going through all this. Before you know it you'll be at the end of your tunnel looking back and being very proud of yourself. Even though you'll be plodding for a while yet, your steps will grow into dance steps and you'll be walking on air. You can do anything girl. Love Janey xxx

    Thanks Deanne. Xxx I hope the taxol flies. I've heard it's not as bad as FEC and has less side effects. Jodie xx

    You certainly have your head around it all now. I am so happy you have found FEC not too bad. 9 weeks of taxol will go quickly with everything changed to a weekly routine. I have been on tamoxifen for 1 1/2 months now and have had virtually no side effects, so hopefully you will find the same. So lovely to hear you are doing so well. I hope this next bit continues this way. It is a wonderful feeling to finish chemo and you will be there soon! Take care. Deanne xx

    Wow your done!!! Congratulations. What a feeling that must be. God I can't wait to have that last chemo xxx Ill be doing tamoxifen for 10 years apparently. As long as I'm in menopause once chemo finishes I guess or they will put me on anther one which I can't remember at the moment? How are you feeling?

    I'm getting there. Have a great team and just want to get it done now. I'm hoping taxol will be as kind to me as FEC has been. My onc is amazed at how I've coped as they have other ladies younger than myself and are shipwrecks as they call them. I guess I have been lucky and wish everyone could do it this easy. I've also not had trouble from the nuelasta shots which scared me witless. I can see the home stretch. I'm now in single digits and want this part over for good (cross fingers). Jodie xx

    Hi Tonya. The extra surgery is more my idea. Lobular is sneaky and I do not want to take chances xx. I will do whatever it takes to give me a bit more chance that it won't come back :-). Luckily my onc and surgeon are all for it. It won't happen for at least 12 months so I have time to recover from everything my body has been through. The only thing I'm struggling with the most is the foggy brain....I hate hate hate it!! Wish there was a way to reverse that side of things lol. Jodie xx

    Jodie,

    I can't believe that you are as far along in your treatment.  I still remember your initial scared posts.  YOu are doing so well. It's tough, but so glad you are getting there.  Being down is OK and normal from time to time, espescially when you think of the treatment you are going through.  Glad to see you are smiling as well.

    Thanks for the update -you've come a long way in 3 months.But I see you still have more treatments and surgery to go yet.It's such a long journey isn't it. Not like other  surgeries where you just get it cut out and recover.Hats off to you for working through chemo-don't know how you did that.But as you say,you wanted the normality.Glad you are smiling more these days.
