I had my first check up mammogram and ultrasound yesterday and the surgeons office called me today to say there are 2 lesions which need core biopsy. Needless to say I am beside myself. I am going to have this done tomorow and then will be the anxious wait for the results. I ve come so far to have to go through it all again will be devaststing!!

So sorry to hear this and you must be worried. I hope the test goes well and you find there is nothing to be concerned about? Here's hoping. Cross fingers - and toes!!! It is what every survivor dreads - you are not alone. Hi Joleeh, I can feel your anxiety, and I know what it feels like. I had the same experience about 3 months ago. I was approaching 9 months since diagnosis, and I had completed chemo, and had booked in for a second mastectomy and the start of reconstruction. I went and had a mammogram and ultrasound, so I could have up to date records for my surgeon. The mammo was clear, (like last time), but the ultrasound showed a lesion. This was like history repeating itself. I was devastated, and the radiologist looked grim faced and said," we'll do a core biopsy because it looks suspicious". He assured me it definitely wouldn't be a cyst, and the irregular edge and dense appearance also had me very worried. I had 2 days of heightened anxiety, and was convinced I had another cancer. I chose to ignore those that reminded me that 9 out 10 lumps are benign, because I had walked this journey before and it all looked ominous. Well, I was lucky, and it was benign. The relief I felt when the call came through was out of this world. This time it was a lesion with fibrocystic changes. Even the radiologist got it wrong this time. Last time, the lesion was accidently found, and no one seemed at all concerned. Even the radiologist said, " I don't think it is anything other than a little cyst, and we could do a fine needle biopsy if you want". ( the lump I was having checked was just fibrous glandular tissue, and this other little lesion didn't seem like anything significant). I really can understand how you are feeling, and I want to remind you about the 9 out of 10 being normal, but I also understand if you don't want to take that on board. One thing this scare did for me, was to convince me whole heartedly, that my decision for a second mastectomy was the right thing for me to do. I have no regrets about having removed this non cancerous breast. I didn't want to give it a chance to let me down like the last one did. How long will you have to wait for the biopsy and the results? I will be thinking of you as you wait, and I'll say a prayer for you as well. Love from Chris xx

Hi Diane great to hear from you... We sailed through a cyclone and 9 metre waves but we had a ball. It was fantastic. Hope you had a lovely Chrissy and new year and are feeling fighting fit for 2012. Would love to catch up at castle hill soon if your free? Cheers Jo xox

I will let you know when the operation is. Because of the BRAC2 gene I have to have my surgery done by a oncology gynaecologist, instead of ordinary gynaecologist. So waiting to get appointment with this surgeon. Ha Ha by the end of my journey I would have seen that many different specialists and been in that many different sections of the hospital.

Yes I think that having the hysterectomy will be a blessing in disguise because I will not have to worry about that any more.

Yes great news Dot with the benign result, Oh i could just have imagined the feeling when you first heard that positive word again. Doesn't that annoy you that they dont even read your notes properly before opening their mouths and even better why cant the Dr write down in their notes what results were given at each visit if any. It may stop a lot of unnecessary heart ache.

Yes i think i would be doing the same with having a full hysterectomy If i had theBRAC2 gene too. It's a big Operation though so i really wish you well, At least you will be nice and safe in their after every thing is gone.

Oh wow Dot, how awful for you...they really need to get their act together on how they handle the testing process I think because its so damn stressful. phew the reilief is massive isnt it...Thank god Im so happy for you. A few less things for you to worry about once you have the historectomy I would think..When are you having it done?. Take care Dot,good luck and keep me posted.

Hi Jo, Well I am doing better now but had a fright this morning. It took me a little while to get over it. I have been having gynaecological problems so was getting test results back today to my hysteroscope. My normal doctor was not at the hospital. So this other doctor calls me in and says I am sorry to tell you this but you tested positive. My heart sank so fast, I repeated what she said,in shock, I tested positive. She yes to the BRAC2 gene of genetic breast cancer. Then replied I know this already I came for the results of hysteroscope. Oh she replied I am sorry. Its all okay its benign but because of the brac2 gene there not prepared to let this turn to anything so I am going to have a fully hysterectomy. Which I wanted my ovaries removed anyway when I found out about my gene.

I am so relived it is benign. Yeah thank god.
