Plastic Surgeon Melbourne??

Hi Ladies,

Im 33 and was diagnosed with TNBC in March this year (genetic testing came back negative). I had lumpectomy surgery in April, did a course of IVF and then started chemo in May (Dose Dense AC x 4 fortnightly and Paclitaxal x 12 weekly). I finish chemo on Friday (yay!) and am currently in discussions with my surgeon about the next course of treatment for me - Radiotherapy or Mastectomy.  I was initially leaning toward radiotherapy but after further discussions with my Surgeon i think bilateral mastectomy (and implant reconstruction) is the way to go as it would reduce my risk of local re-occurrence by about 25%.   Would love your recommendations for a plastic surgeon in Melbourne.  Any other feedback/comments are also welcomed.  Thank you xo

  • Hi Amandag,

I had done a mastectomy and reconstruction in July. I suggest you ask your breast surgeon about their partnering plastic surgeon. My surgeon has recommended Gillian Farrell from Cabrini Brighton. She is fantastic. I had two surgeons working together for my operation. So it's best to let your breast surgeon decide which plastic surgeon work best in the team.

    cheers,

  • Hi Sallietj,

Thank you for your reply.  Hamish was actually one of the plastic surgeons I was considering..it's good to know he comes recommended.   All the best with your tattoos xo

  • Hi Amandag,

I can highly recommend Hamish Farrow, his rooms are in Glenferrie rd Hawthorn & my surgery was at the Epworth. I had a bilateral mascetomany with a DIEP procedure in October 2013.

Hamish was wonderful and I just need my tattoos now. It's been a long road, but well worth it.

    Good Luck
