Pins and Needles - a great story

While out at a social gathering this afternoon a woman told a wonderful story about her elderly aunt who had a mastectomy many years ago. 

At the time she had her surgery there were no commerical prosthetic breasts, so she filled her bra cup with sponge rubber. 

One day while visiting her aunt, the niece noticed her aunt busily sewing.  Suddenly the aunt stopped sewing and stabbed the needle into her breast!  The niece got an awful fright, but it seemed the aunt habitually used her sponge-breast as a pin cushion when sewing! 

While we all laughed hysterically at the image of this woman with her pin cushion breast, it reminded me of how grateful I am that we have come so far with the availability of prosthesis.

     I was thinking "  pins and needles" medical condition,

     not pin cushion needles ! LOL.

    What a Laugh, so funny just thinking of the look the niece would have given. Poor girl will never be the same. Good story. Thanks for sharing it, and yes it does make us think of how far the medical world  has come. Cheers Jo xx
