Hoping not to get to this but did have some vein pain this time around. So in case I need something like this I am wondering if others have done any research on the different types around and what they decided on and if they are happy with it. thanks Julia

great to get your opinions on this. I am due next chemo on tuesday and will discuss it all with onc then.

I had a PICC line inserted after a few rounds of chemo and a few days of round-the-clock antibiotics wrecked my veins. I only had it for a couple of weeks and hated the thing sticking out of my arm and having to shower with a plastic bag around my upper arm. I had an infusaport inserted as a day procedure and finished my chemo on that and then started the herceptin. I am in LOVE with my port and will miss it when it's gone. While my oncologist could always find a vein, everybody else would have to dig around for ages - very hit and miss. Now all my bloods at the chemo suite get taken through the port but for some reason I can't manage to convince anyone else to use it! There's a little bump just under my collarbone but it gets completely covered by my bra strap. Just needs a little needle prick to "hook me up" at the chemo suite and I'm done. I've had nearly all my herceptin now and expect to have my port removed in a couple of months.
