Hi Kristy, I think it is definitely ok to get a second opinion however with regards to phyllodes tumours it is very difficult to establish what grade they are via core biopsy as the cells can be variable. Majority of Phyllodes tumours cannot be graded until they are excised. My original core biopsy came back as benign however after lumpectomy it was then graded as borderline malignant. Unfortunately not a lot is known about these tumours and the best advice from my experience and reading the research is that it is best to have the tumour removed with at least a 1cm margin.
