Hi Marine,
Have you considered getting a referral for a second opinion if this is possible. A mammogram does not correctly show these tumors and most ladies with phyllodes have ultrasounds to monitor for phyllodes. Reoccurence is around 25% and is recorded in the available studies for all grades of tumors. 1cm margin is stated in the majority of studies. It is your body and sanity and if you are not happy with how the tumor has been managed you may need to see another surgeon and find one that has experience dealing with phyllodes.
If you post a blog on the phyllode tumor group you can ask questions about surgeons that may be near you. There are also many stories on there that you can read and reply to and ask questions. I hope this helps. Cheers Katie.x
