Sorry to read of your sister in law's plight but with this condition she needs to be prepared mentally that further surgery is a potential we must consider but we must also hope that we wont require it!  Only a week since surgery she is probably in shock especially as you say having not had anything and then suddenly find she requires surgery.  I do hope that she has a good outcome and maybe she will join in here herself and see that we can survive this.  She is very lucky she has you as a caring relative so when she is anxious she can pour out her feelings to an understanding friend.  The old saying a problem shared is a problem halved rings true I think.

Hope is the ingredient she needs to latch on to and stay informed of where she is at with her condition and ask whatever she wishes to and persist if worried.  All good wishes to you and your sister in law as you both go through this procedure and recovery.
