Hi Girls
Got my results today and not what I was expecting - I have invasive DCIS (invasive ductal carcinoma in situ) It has been an overwhelming day. I was not expecting to hear these results, but never the less this It is what I am up against . The IDC is in my left breast, my phyllodes tumour was on the right side of my left breast. I have a biopsy organised for tomorrow on my lymph nodes, then I have to see a plastic reconstructive surgeon on the 20th August. My breast cancer surgeon on the 21st and if everything goes to plan a mastectomy on the 23rd. I was looking at pictures today of the mastectomy surgeries and what to expect and I found them very overwhelming but it has to be done. I am not looking fwd to it but I know that Vicki and Katie you girls have gone through it all and i get strength from you Ladies. Question? did you guys ever consider having a double mastectomy and reconstruction straight away. I know with Phyllodes being a cystic Sarcoma they dont like to do reconstructions straight away just in case it comes back. With IDC they can do the mastectomy and the reconstructive surgery at the same time. This is what I discussed today with the specialist fingers crossed & with my faith god willing all will be ok.
