PET Scan

Hello girls and boys,
I’m booked in for a PET scan on Monday I’ve been told I can’t get this on Medicare so will have to pay $750.
I had my surgery for bilateral mastectomy 3 weeks ago and only got paid for 10 days sick.
I am waiting for my super to assess if I am entitled to some income protection but in the meantime it’s all going on the credit card.
Is this what everybody else does? It’s just an added stress at a stressful time?
  • This might help if you follow the link and get your onc to be specific in why they ordered the PET Scan. Is this the Medicare fee or an additional by a private radiologist unit?...Your GP can also order a Pet Scan by signing a Radiology form, should you need a more specific referral for Medicare claim.

As to loss of income, both in the short and long term  - I think it is a huge problem with BC and often not talked about enough.
