Peripheral Neuropathy
Hi All,
I have started this new thread because I am worried.
I am 2 months out of chemo (Dose Dense 4xAC 4xPaclitaxol) and the neuropathy in my feet is getting worse. From the balls of my feet to my toes - feel like blocks of wood!
When I sleep, I sleep o n my side with my hands under the pillow. Recently (in the last week) I have been waking up wth pins and needles in my hands and fingers. When I put my hands down by my sides it goes away, but I naturally put my hands back there again and yep, more pins and needles. Do not notice anything during the day in my hands.
By the end of the day my feet are REALLY sore, red, swollen etc. All my oncologist said (on last meeting a few weeks back) was to moisturise. I haven't been doing it twice a day like she said to, so I will increase that, but any other tips? Should I be worried that it seems to be getting worse rather than better?

- JJ70MemberI don't want to jinx myself...but are my feet feeling better over the last two weeks?? Here's hoping!! Could be the warmer weather...............I do believe they are improving!
- JJ70MemberI keep forgetting to put them on @Blossom1961!! I have them made up in a container next to my bed...now I just have to remember to apply them!!! :p
- Blossom1961Member@JJ70 I hope the oils helped lessen the pain and numbness. I am currently trying to find oils to cope with the pain from my port which keeps me up at night. Onco says it is fine but last week it wouldn't give blood so ended up with cannula. We will see if the thing works for tomorrow's treatment. In the meantime, on to the oils and pray they work.
- JJ70Member@Blossom1961. Thanks for that! I have all of those oils and will make a concoction today! Thanks for sharing.
- Blossom1961MemberNot sure if this will help anyone. I started getting the numbness and pain in my toes (I am currently on taxol) and did a bit of research on natural stuff. I concocted a mixture of equal parts eucalyptus, peppermint, rosemary, lavender and frankincense oils and then added about three times the amount of carrier oil (I used coconut). I lightly rub this on my toes morning and night and it has taken away most of the pain. May not work for everyone but may be worth trying. I also find twenty minutes of non-intense walking each day helps. I hope those who are still in pain with this S.E. find relief. Xxxx
- JJ70MemberReflexology appointment today....my feet are already excited!! :#
- Kiwi_AngelMember@JJ70 that sucks - I really hope it does improve for u soon xo
- JJ70Member@"Kiwi Angel" I am over 5 months out from dose dense Paclitaxel and at the moment I think I'd be happy to amputate my feet.
- JJ70Member@Sister...I'm not sure...maybe? Hopefully? Every day now for a couple of weeks they have been REALLY painful by the end of the day. Like someone is sticking thousands of hot, tiny needles into them. My go to ugg boot therapy is not doing the trick anymore. I am hoping I am going through this torture to come out the other side of it with highly improved PN or non-existent PN.
- Kiwi_AngelMember@JJ70 mine is much better 3 months out from the TC (can’t remember what chemo u had). Still not perfect. Sux ah!!
