Periods

Hi all,

Period is probably not the right word as my bleeding is daily, hardly periodoc. I am looking for advice.

I am (or was) premenopausal and am round 4/6 TCH (Her 2 postive, hormone negative). I have had  daily semi-heavy bleeding for the past 2 months despite being on progesterone, which slows the bleeding (it is really heavy without progesterone).

Has anyone else had this problem? It is really wearing me down and only seems to be getting worse. I have heard that Zoladex can stop bleeding.?

Any advice or info would be greatly appreciated.

  • Thanks Loreto,

My periods are not showing a sign of slowing down, more the opposite. It's strange as I get other menopausal symptoms, ie hot flushes and night sweats (and possibly mood swings but who can tell with all the other stuff going on!).

I think I will enquire about seeing a gyno as you suggested,

thanks for getting back to me, it seems it is not a very common problem.

All the best for the last 2 rounds. I am due for round 4 tomorrow but they are usually delayed. grrr.

  • Hi Shat I have just completed 4/6 cycles of TCH as well. I ended up with periods for three weeks and my onc suggested progesterone or zoladex to stop the bleeding as it was affecting my red blood cell count and I was feeling very tired and breathless. His next step was to talk to a gynaecologist if the bleeding didn't settle. Fortunately my periods stopped by themselves in the fourth week, but I know how draining it is to cope with them whilst putting up with all the other side effects of chemo. Might be worth asking to see a gynaecologist as well. Loreto
