Pathology result

I had a little party inside myself when I saw the Dr.last Friday (25/11/13)........mastectomy has gotten rid of the cancer...no evidence of cancer cells in the sentinel node or lymph node they took!

I had invasive carcinoma approx 4cm....within  calcification area containing 5cm DCIS...grade 2 - ER/PR positive.

Great result but now wait for the Oncologist to give me the news about what treatment is recommended. So far 6 chemo sessions 3 weeks apart and then tamoxifen for 5 years after has been suggested. 

I had to have seratoma drained under my arm last Friday too...it was approx the size of an orange so very uncomfortable but relief when it had been drained. I think it has settled now!

I am amazed at reading others' posts how many different types/grades of cancer and treatments there are! Never knew anything about this until I became an unwilling member of this club!

Only way is forward now....!

    Yes,so many different pathologies-breast cancer is not just one disease but many.If you have to have breast cancer then you've got the"better"type and good news that it's not in your lymph nodes-well worth doing the happy dance for that news.Do you have the hercepton test back yet?Now if that's negative then you've really won the triffecta.Weird how we feel lucky in the cancer world- like being in some parallel universe.Seromas are common.I had one on my scarline that needed syringing twice aweek for 5 weeks after my mastectomy. I got fitted for a prosthesis at about 6 weeks post op.Best wishes for a speedy recovery and no more seromas! Tonya xx

    It is such a good feeling Jen xxx I'm much the same, my cancer has been evicted but need adjuvant therapy as extra insurance. Scary but it has to be done :-) Jodie xx
