Part of the Journey

Its been quite a while since I have written anything on my blog but since I did, I have had a mastectomy followed by reconstruction. It was a long operation, but I am pleased that part of my journey is behind me. Not only has it been physically draining, but mentally. I liken it to a rollercoaster ride in so many ways. I still have a few minor surgeries to go.. 2 in the up coming weeks but I know they are just part of the course I have to undergo. Its amazing, you dont realise how strong you can be and how powerful the human spirit is until you are faced with something such as breast cancer...

    I particularly like Leonie's comment about only the strong get it! I'm seen as that in my family too. Yes it is amazing how powerful the human spirit is when faced with something like this. But we keep soldiering on because we have to. It is also quite life changin and a real rollercoaster of emotions.

    I agree.  We certainly find our inner strength.  My four sisters told me that I got BC because I was strong and could handle it.  So I must of had some inner strength prior to bc.  However it does take a lot of courage to get through bc.  We are a brave lot. XLeonie
