I am also new to this site. Please do not be fearful of radiotherapy - it is not painful - like having an x-ray - and mine only took a few minutes each day for the treatment.
This is MY story and does not mean that anyone else will go through the same 'inconvenience' I had.
I had a stage 2 cancer, sentinal node plus three others removed in July this year, and thankfully, all results came back clear, so only required radiotherapy to follow. The radiotherapy was a breeze for the first four weeks, then I developed cellulosis. My surgeon told me that only one or two women per year develop this. (So no need to panic). It needed to be drained every second day so the radiotherapy could continue, and when completed, had further surgery to re-open the wound and have the area 'cleaned out'. Six weeks of Radiotherpy turned into eight weeks away as I also spent one week in hospital on IV antibiotics.
Have been taking Arimidex for 5 weeks and am so glad I finally joined this site as I was thinking I was becoming a hypochondriac. After reading some of the posts on this site, have realised that my symptoms are not mine alone. I have suffered pins and needles in the hand/arm, tiredness, not being able to get to sleep and have no energy - could be something to do with the weather at present as it is really hot/muggy here in Central Qld.
I would suggest that it is probably best to follow the specialists plans as they are after all, the "Specialists", and the ones I had in Brisbane were fantastic.
Take care and best wishes for the remainder of your treatment.
