Pain after treatment

Hi pink sisters

I am a good 12 months on from surgeries and have finished treatments and now on my 5 years of aromatose inhibitors (Femara). I have had a recent mammogram and ultrasound which I was told was all good.

BUT I have noticed out of the ordinary pain in my BC breast just recently. I always still have some pain on the surgery area and lymph node area as there is a lot of scar tissue BUT I am now feeling like veiny/sinuey (spelling sorry) type feeling and some pain with it so I have an appointment with chemo onco in just over a month so will get it checked out again.

It may just be hormonal??? Remember I have just had mammogram and ultrasound which was said to be clear BUT you just never know do you???

The fear of recurrence is so real. I really thought it wouldn't bother me but it is always there in the back of your mind so it is best to keep getting any concerns checked.

Thanks again Linda and Kathy, such a relief to know I'm not the only one who worries about this. Seem to be going along ok, have slowed down a bit now. The boob is alot better, my rad. onc. is happy with it which is a relief, she admitted even she was worried when she saw it last so at least I know it wasnt all in my head :) You're right, haste does nothing, have to wait and see, fingers crossed. Hope you are both well.

Well, as above, and listening to all possibilities, I still have flair ups of pain in breast and slight thickness in skin at flair up spots, so looks like I will have to keep on asking ... "Is this normal?" or is it a symptom of more breast cancer? Hmmm I suppose that there is nothing to do except wait and see? What does haste do? Can't change, then wait and do. I just have to relax and ask for explanations. At times I am feeling good and then others tired and not, so just working and trying to focus on  my "normal".

Thanks for your support. I've just had some really good lymphoedema massage by a physio and it has really helped plus another course of antibiotics which has settled things down,  Apparently I have alot of scar tissue, but things are looking and feeling quite 'normal' now (whatever that is now!!), I agree cleeland, normal is not our usual normal anymore, has been hard knowing precisely what is normal now. And pisces_tas thank you too, I do race around a bit too much and find it difficult to slow down so thanks again to you both, hope you are well xxxx

 The pain may be.. from the flu too; after 4 weeks of coughing,  maybe it is a pulled muscle..etc. and from radiation. What side is it on? Speaking to someone sounds like a good idea. Take it easy if you can..at this time.

I too had pains and worried about them. A lot have settled now, but  I try and not rush too much..etc Take things slowly, gently, carefully, works for me.

Hi thanks... and well I was nervous about re occurring breast cancer so the continuing pain in breast can get you worried. Other explanations given to me are... Extra fluid that congregates after surgery so full breast. This is brain saying " Go there, it needs help!"  and then the brain sometimes feels the pain where lumpectomy was performed because it has been altered but the pathways from mind to the breast have registered trouble spots that  haven't always mended altogether. Does this make sense? My brain sends all sorts of messages that have been checked but the cancer has not spread , according to the SCANS. Like foot and especially abdomen and ribs... but nothing sighted.... so I now feel a little bit silly when I complain and gather it is just the brains  response to a nasty "complication called cancer." However it does not prevent me from whinging to the oncologists who seem to dismiss it as " NORMAL" What is normal? Hell I no longer know what is normal for my body so I just accept the breast twinges and the tightness.

Thanks Mich, i've got a mammogram/u/s in a weeks time so hopefully that may give me some answers. You're right, I need peace of mind, worrying about it is driving me nuts! Thanks again :)
