Hello out there my pink sisters. I just read a leaflet at work that says there is an increased chance of ovarian cancer if you have had breast cancer. Does anyone know if this is so? Has anyone else heard this? I am coming up to 3 yrs in may and this is the first I have heard this.Is this something I need to be watchful for? Any info on this would be greatly appreciated as I would hate to have that come and bite me in the backside. Many thanks my friends and hoping you are all doing well with your journey. I have the BRCA1 mutation - this is an increased risk of breast and ovarian cancers. Average woman 1.2% chance, brca1 carriers 40%. The doctors have made the removal of my ovaries as the priority because there is no sufficient screening process. Did you have any genetic testing done?

Hi Viv, I am glad you are doing well. I have returned to fulltime work and loving it. Very tired but don't care. I am sure you will find some info in the above sector. It is always wise to keep a vigil on all health issues. If in doubt always get checked out. I was always told to make sure that a bloated tummy is checked out if it is unusual XLeonie

I think you'll find it is directed at women who've had breast cancer and test positive for the BRCA 1 and 2 gene.These ladies usually have a strong family history of close relatives having breast cancer or ovarian cancer.A pelvic ultrasound might help to clear any concerns about ovarian cancer. Hi Viv I was recommended by my specialist and oncologist to have my ovaries removed for a couple of reasons. My BC was hormone + so eostrogen is taboo The chemo didn't kill em like they expected Higher risk of Ovarian cancer as they are very similar/same cancer. So I had them removed 6 months after i finished my radiotherapy But i suggest that you talk to your drs and nurses to find out the best course of action for you. Also talk to Ovarian Cancer Australia they might be able to give you some information. .

Oh best of luck to you. I'll send healing vibes to you for june. I've been under the knife several times with the cancer and reconstructions and every thing has always gone well so don't worry you'll be fine. I'm on Tamoxifen so have gone into menopause and it's not so bad. Cheers to you. Xx

I don't have this done until 25 June. Being a teacher I've aimed to use school holidays to recover. Thanks for asking. I'm blocking it all at the moment. Trying not to get nervous - my first anaesthetic and operation.

Hey Diana, you probable have had the procedure done by now. I have been in NZ for my daughters wedding so have not been online. I also have just undergone a nipple recon so have been busy. I would love some feedback from you and how u now feel. I send you all the best wishes for your recovery. Love and healing to you

Well I'm all booked in to remove ovaries and tubes. Only expense is the anaesthetist. Not looking forward to instant menopause, but will deal with that when it happens

Hey ladies. Thank you all so much for your replies. I saw my GP and he tells me it is not an issue unless you have the BRCA gene. So I will take him at his word unless I have a problem. I will run it past my breast care nurse as well tho.

Thank you so much ladies I am seeing my gp Friday but I will call the ovarian cancer people this week. When I have all the info I will post it here. I do hope all u Georgious pink ladies are doing ok and I put positive vibes out there for u all. Love and peace xx
