My mastectomy scar is at the stage where it feels tight and pulling. I have a stitch at the end of the scar that sits right under my armpit. There is a tail of the stitch just under my skin that stabs me and this afternoon it came through my skin and stabbed my arm. Are these stitches supposed to dissolve? How long does it take for them to go?

Thanks Julia, I'll do that tomorrow but I'm hoping my GP can do it rather than having to go miles to the surgeon. and paying double for the privilege. :) My GP is a retired surgeon as well.Cas x

Sounds like after my recent reconstruction surgery.. A few stitches started to come up to surface and when I went for checkup they said it was normal and body's way of healing, so they just pulled them out.
You should get a check up and see if it is the same
