Op Day!

Operation scheduled for today. My biggest concern had been in regard to my airway, but after talking to the anaesthetist, I am feeling more relaxed. He was going to talk to my neck surgeon and the guy who has done anaesthetics for my last 3 procedures plus get copies of related files faxed to him. Initially felt I was being over cautious but he was lovely - very reassuring and completely agreed that he did need a heap of extra info on me. Told me if we had rocked up today and the he heard/found about all this he would probably been the one to cancel the surgery. Has warned me that awake intubation may be the way he goes - also told me not to be too worried if I do wake up in ICU - maybe for one night (just to keep an eye on my airway.

Had a Boob Voyage party to say good bye to my breast (before the mastectomy), just with the family, on Saturday - had a lovely friend who made us cupcakes and iced them to look like boobs. A lot of fun - lifted my spirits too! And they were chocolate cake - the answer to everything, regardless of the question! xxx
