One week after surgery
It has now been one week since my surgery - and what a week! The actual operation - mastectomy and removal of lymph nodes - went well. I woke up with minimal pain and two drains in my chest. The hospital doctors and nurses were fantastic but the noise and lack of privacy in the ward was shocking!
Both my boys came to visit me in hospital which was fantastic. I really wasn't sure if my eldest, who has autism, would manage it but to my surprise he was fine! And didn't want to leave after 5 minutes!! He ended up staying for almost an hour.
I couldn't wait to get out of hospital. Two nights and I came home. Friday night was so good to spend in my own bed!! And finally get some rest.
Sunday I got the second drain out so that was a huge relief. My neck was sore from subconsciously straining and I had a good neck massage from my husband. Today is Wednesday and it is feeling much better. I am doing my arm exercises and so far, so good.
I am getting some lovely messages of support and some great physical help from my husband and mother. Friday we are due to get the next pathology results so we can digest the information over the weekend. Stay tuned!
