One of those weeks
I had my 18mnth oncology review yesterday. Unfortunately my regular oncologist was away and I ended up spending three hours in the car to see a 14 year old minion. I wouldn't have bothered going if I knew that was going to happen. I really wanted to discuss the AI drugs as I am pretty much over them.
14 months on, life is not too good, I didn't think I was getting worse, but in the last month I've developed achilles tendonitis, which on top of persistent neuropathy in my feet is more than irritating. Off to the podiatrist who, predictably wanted to sell me orthotics. That whole performance cost over $200 buck, after the chronic care subsidy.
Now I have some shitty thing happening in my 'bad' arm that feels very much like cording except my skin is also so sore i can't bear anyone touching it. That's moved from my wrist upwards in two weeks, if I have to extend my arm I help and it feels disgusting. The minion thought it might be nerve damage but because my arm in now swelling it's off to the lymphoedma crew on Thursday. What's the bet they want to put me in compression garments.
I've lost my casual job--a combo of the business not having enough work for me and my being too slow to be hired out by the hour. My brain is porridge and when I could work through things in my own time then bill for what I thought a normal person would I could fudge it. Not when I'm temped out and have to work in someone else's office..to top it all off my blood pressure has become such a concern (wonder why) that I need to wear a twenty-four hour monitor. They really hurt when they need to get up over 170 to get a reading.
Sigh. Sorry for the rant, but this is not the way I thought things would turn out.

Dear @Zoffiel, Best wishes and hugs
from jennyss - j9kMemberGlad you are nearing the end of ABs @Zoffiel. Hope you are feeling much improved. The furry friends are great company. I recently recovered at my brother's place after my Mx. He has a lively little blue heeler. She is like 20bags of hammers! But she was much more tentative and gentle around me than usual. Nothing like some doggy love to make you feel better.
- kmakmMemberGood to hear @Zoffiel. I'm relieved for you. K xox
- RomlaMemberSounds like a good day @Zoffiel including chickie love - things looking up for you and am so pleased - you are a special human being.
- arpieMemberWOW! Big day for you today @Zoffiel Funny how that happens, eh? Good that your buddy handled the news OK .... I don't share my BC on FB either.
Are you feeling better with just 2 days to go on the ABs? I hope so. xx
Enjoy the 1 on 1 time with your son!! ;) - ZoffielMemberYes, bounding enthusiasm is great, but it can be a little bit much sometimes. 65 kg @kezmusc holy toledo! Chickie love is like being cuddled by a bag of hammers, but there is, thankfully, a minimum amount of slobber. 2 days of ABs to go.
The nurse arrived quite late, just as an old school friend I hadn't seen in 35 years called in with her family arrived. That was interesting, I hadn't told her I'd been sick, I don't share it on Facebook and the whole world doesn't need to know. To her credit she handled it with aplomb. Now I find my son needs a bed for the night, for the first-time in six years. It's a strange old world - AnonymousNot applicableThe user and all related content has been deleted.
- kezmuscMemberGlad to hear you are getting better @Zoffiel. Nothing like a bounding great hound to great you when you are trying to protect parts of yourself is there? . Sometimes I just look at mine from behind the glass door (which she tries to remove by launching herself at it) until it is safe to go out! 65kgs of ecstatically happy great dane is not to be messed with.
Bugger the housework, I'm sure they've seen worse.
Get well soon xoxox - SisterMemberSo pleased that you're getting on top of it @zoffiel. Take care of yourself and give yourself a chance to get back to normal.
- EastmumMemberGlad to hear it!
Nothing like some visitors and a nurse to make you feel better - sounds like you're definitely improving if there's a broad minded consideration to be had hahaha - go you!
