One more chemo to go !

As much as I didn't want a PICC line for my last 2 chemos it made such a difference yesterday when I had my chemo. For the first time they were not searching for my miniscule veins to jump up and be cannulated it was straight in and all done so quickly. Not sure why I was so anti it all. The PICC went in on Weds and that was painless, when I asked the doctor when he was beginning he told me he had finished! No dramas........ So now I have just one more chemo on 9th Dec and that's it until the radiation starts after the New Year so can have a nice break over Christmas, hope to get out on the water and do some jet-skiing my arm feels up to some "pushing". I am really enjoyng this on-line forum and being able to connect with everyone out there. You are all so amazing in so many different ways. I thank you all..........

  • Hi Kathy

Good to hear from you. Shame about the last chemo making you neutropenic, it happened on the first chemo to me and have had an injection every time since to boost my white count hasn't stopped the colds and coughs though! Got my appointment for the radiation and have a planning day on Fri 10th Dec and they hope my first session will be Thurs 6th Jan so am looking forward to a nice break over Christmas and New Year, My hair has been growing too and have about 1mm all over so hope once the chemo stops it will grow like it normally does which is very fast!

Have a great Christmas be glad you are not in the UK!! so cold and snowy.

    Love Sarah

  • Hi Sarah, I am so happy for you, I finished my chemo on 22nd November, yippee.  Unfortunately white blood count went down and I spent the last couple of days in hospital hooked up to a drip but I am home now and feel so much better.

Had bond bensity scan and just got one more oncologist appointment on 22nd December to find out what tablets I will be on for the next 5 years - onwards and upwards, already got small growth of hair looks really weird.

    Happy christmas to everyone .

  • Hi Lyn

Thanks for your message feeling pretty good except my cold this time is really hanging around. My taste and smell have completely disappeared my ears are so blocked so am off to the GP this morning to have a look in my ears feels like some fluid in there! I don't have much to be down about after the last few days watching the mine tragedy in Greymouth. So sad I guess it was never going to be a good outcome. I am looking forward to our catch up and will be so excited about my last chemo. Glad the tablets are more tolerable we all sound pretty good at the moment!

    Love Sarah
